Call for Papers: Conference Cornelius Castoriadis’ social and political thought. 20 years after

 

Cornelius Castoriadis passed away in Paris on December 26th 1997. Today, two decades after his death, his philosophical concepts penetrate not only the discourse and the practices of social movements, but also various fields of the philosophical debate outside and within academic institutions: PhD theses, new books, articles in philosophical reviews research the impact and influence of Castoriadis’ ideas.

The MSc Program “Political Science and History” of the Department of Political Science and History of Panteion University in Athens organizes an international conference on all aspects of C. Castoriadis’ thought. The conference aims to highlight the relevance of Castoriadis’ reflection nowadays and to bring together scholars and students from a variety of academic backgrounds.

Critical discussions of Castoriadis’ theorization of society, social imaginary significations, the individual psyche, the notion of autonomy, etc. will be most welcome.  Which are the new tendencies within the capitalistic imaginary?  How could we nowadays contemplate about the socio-historical? Do the ideas of the philosopher help us to approach and overcome the contemporary crisis of our societies? Which direction for further theorizing Castoriadis’ work points towards?

Scholars interested in presenting a paper at the Conference are invited to submit an abstract (250 words) in English, French or Greek, accompanied by a brief biographical note, by Οctober 3, 2017 to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

franceColloque: La pensée sociale et politique de Cornelius Castoriadis. 20ans après

 

Cornelius Castoriadis est mort le 26 Décembre 1997 à Paris. Aujourd’hui, deux décennies après sa mort, ses conceptions philosophiques pénètrent non seulement le discours et les pratiques des mouvements sociaux, mais aussi les établissements universitaires: thèses doctorales, nouveaux livres, articles dans des revues scientifiques.

Le programme Master “Science et Histoire Politique” du département de Science et Histoire Politique d'Univerisité Panteion organise un colloque sur tous les aspects de la pensée castoriadienne. Le colloque vise à souligner la pertinence de la réflexion de Castoriadis aujourd’hui et à faire rapprocher des chercheurs et des étudiants d’une varieté des formations académiques.

Les discussions critiques de la théorisation castoriadienne de la societé, les significations sociales imaginaires, l’âme individuelle, la notion de l’autonomie, seront bienvenues. Quelles sont les nouvelles tendances à l’intérieur de l’imaginaire capitaliste? Comment pourrait-on penser le socio-historique aujourd’hui? Est-ce que les idées du philosophe nous aident à aborder la crise contemporaine de nos sociétés? Vers quelle direction indique l’oeuvre de Castoriadis en ce qui concerne la penseé theorique contemporaine? 

Les chercheurs qui sont intéressés à présenter une communication orale au colloque sont invités à soumettre un résumé (250 mots) en anglais, français ou grec, accompagné d'une brève notice biographique, jusqu’au 3 octobre 2017, à: This email address is being protected from spambots. Les candidats seront informés de leur acceptation jusqu’ au 3 novembre 2017.


Les présentations ne devraient pas dépasser les 3.500 mots (les notes de bas de page et la bibliographie ne sont pas incluses).
