As we know, music often serves as one of the primary ways that we create and maintain social identities. Music is also frequently used to catalyze various forms of social and political activism, challenge our relationship to society and structures of power or initiate change. This seminar explores the nature of music during the years 1974-85 and its relationship to culture, politics, and identity. During the semester we will try to develop our ability to gain a general understanding of a particular historical context, in this case the years called “Metapolitefsi” after the collapse of the dictatorship (1967-1974). |
