Welcome from the Head of the Department

We welcome our students and the visitors of our website. Here you will find information on the organization of the studies and the academic activities of the Department of Political Science and History.

Our Department offers a program of studies on political action and conflict analysis, on political theories and on the major political actors and personalities, in the context of Greek, European, and international historical experience, supported by basic knowledge of law and economics. Our students are provided with a wide array of courses on offer, enabling them to choose their preferred topics of study, including also courses taught by other Departments of the University. The guides of undergraduate and postgraduate programs of studies contain detailed information on the course themes and on the respective bibliography, so that the students can make informed choices.

The appropriation of academic knowledge requires critical thinking and rational discourse, and can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and disciplined study. We want our students to familiarize themselves with the challenges of globalization and of an increasingly complex world society, and acquire the solid knowledge that is necessary for their personal and professional development.

In the difficult times our society goes through, the Panteion University does its best to satisfy the expectations and aspirations of young people. The library of our University is, for instance, the fourth best in the country. The students of the Department of Political Science and History will pursue their studies in a friendly and research-intensive academic environment, where both faculty and administration will be highly supportive of their efforts to achieve excellence.
